Faces of FIS

This section will highlight an employee of Worldpay from FIS so you can learn more about who’s working for you! This month, we present Laurel Cartwright.

Q. Tell us about yourself!
A. I live in Eureka, California, on the coast and about an hour and a half south of the Oregon border. It’s very remote and beautiful, and I love walking among the redwood trees or along the ocean. I read all the time, and I like to rescue animals from shelters or feral situations. I’m an avid collector of vintage indigenous American jewelry since the 1970s. I’m an entrepreneur, so I relate to our customers!

Q. What is your role with Worldpay from FIS?
A. I’m a partnership manager, which means that I am responsible for resources, strategic guidance, and ultimately client experience at the bank level. I also deliver on revenue commitments.

Q. What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
A. It’s hard to pick just one. I love partnering with a bank, by sharing our best practices as well as my experience as a banker, leader and payments professional to deliver outstanding results. I also love mentoring people and seeing them blossom in their careers. And of course, as a salesperson, I love a big win!

Q. What are 5 (or 10) things that people would be surprised to learn about you?
• I am a license optician – I can probably fix your glasses if they are giving you trouble.
• I love teaching people how to make bread and tasty homemade soups.
• I worked in retail for 15 years and banking for 14 years before coming to Worldpay. I have 11 years of payments experience.
• I once co-founded a financial services firm in Virginia.
• I’ve been on the executive team of a bank.
• I used to own Little Caesars Pizza franchises in Oregon.
• I think banana slugs are actually visitors from another dimension (seriously – Google those bad boys!)
• I love collaborating with a team or one on one with another person, and I push myself to innovate.
• My husband of 17 years and I got married on the steps of the Buncombe County jail in Asheville, North Carolina.
• I’ve lived in New Jersey, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and California.
