OmniShield 360 will protect your ATM, Consumer Debit, Business Debit and Home Equity Line of Credit Debit cards. Currently, it does not support Credit cards.
When am I eligible to begin receiving reimbursement on my fraud?
You begin receiving reimbursement on your fraudulent ATM/Debit card transactions beginning with your first dollar in fraud loss. There is no waiting period, nor is there any amount which you must absorb before OmniShield 360 begins reimbursing you.
How much will Vantiv reimburse me for fraud?
Vantiv will reimburse you beginning with your first dollar in fraud losses up to an annual maximum limit. Vantiv can provide you with your annual maximum reimbursable amount.
What additional products are part of the OmniShield 360 solution?
Fraud Monitoring, Real Time Decisioning, Real Time Fraud Scores, Enhanced Chargebacks and Automated Fraud Reporting are complementary products to OmniShield 360. If you do not currently have one of these products, it will be turned on for you.
My staff is not properly trained on these products to use them effectively. Why do I need to adopt them?
Vantiv will operate and use these products on your behalf to reduce fraud and process your chargebacks. You do not need to be trained on them.
What fraud is covered and reimbursable?
OmniShield 360 covers the most common types of fraud, including:
  • Card-present and Card-not-present
  • Domestic and international transactions
  • Counterfeit and skimmed cards
  • PIN and Signature transactions
  • ATM and Debit card portfolios
What fraud is NOT covered under OmniShield 360?
The following types of fraud are not covered:
  • Friendly fraud in which cardholders knowingly provided their PIN numbers and/or access to their ATM/Debit cards to another individual
  • Criminal behavior or activity by employees of the institution that directly or indirectly resulted in the fraudulent activity
  • Normal merchant disputes that are not fraudulent
How does Vantiv calculate the monthly fee? Will the monthly cost be fixed or variable?
The OmniShield 360 monthly fee is a fixed percentage of the monthly dollar volume spent by your cardholders. This includes Signature Authorizations, PIN/Point of Sale Debit, PIN/Preauth Debit and PIN/Cash Withdrawals. While the pricing is a fixed rate, the monthly amount will fluctuate based on the spending activity of your cardholders.
Who will provide product pricing? How much will this cost?
Your Relationship Manager will provide a custom quote for this product.
Can Vantiv deny reimbursement of a claim?
Vantiv will review each claim to verify that it is a fraudulent transaction. Claims that are not related to fraudulent activity are not covered under OmniShield 360.
Can I remove or alter a Real Time Decisioning rule defined by Vantiv?
At any time, you may view rules in Real Time Decisioning. If you have a question or concern about a Real Time Decisioning rule implemented by Vantiv, contact your Relationship Manager to discuss it.
Are cards on the Exclusion List in Real Time Decisioning covered by fraudulent transactions?
Vantiv does not place cards on the Exclusion list. That is done by the financial institution. As such, Vantiv will not reimburse fraud losses incurred on cards on the Exclusion list.
Do I have to re-issue all CAN/CAMS alerts to qualify? What if there is a CAN/CAMS alert of a similar magnitude and high risk as Heartland?
We realize that card re-issues can cause disruptions to a debit portfolio and cardholder confusion. Any decision to re-issue must be weighed against the customer impact it will have. Vantiv makes recommendations on reissues, and you will receive a credit of $1.50 per card for all cards on the recommended reissues.

If you decide to not re-issue the cards as recommended by Vantiv, then future fraudulent transactions conducted on those cards are not eligible for reimbursement under OmniShield 360.
How long does this product take to implement?
Once a decision has been made to adopt OmniShield 360, you can be converted to it in three to six weeks, on average.
What involvement will I have in the fraud and chargebacks management process?
When a cardholder informs you about a transaction that they did not perform, you have two options. You can give your customer the Vantiv 800 number, and we will handle the issue with your cardholder. Or, you can collect the data from the cardholder and fax it to Vantiv.
Can I drop this product if I do not want it after some period of time?
OmniShield works on a rolling 12-month timeframe, and participation is co-terminus with your EFT processing contract.
What is the timeframe in which Vantiv will reimburse an institution on its fraud losses?
Once a claim has been submitted, Vantiv will verify that it is fraudulent and will pursue chargeback opportunities if applicable. As a result reimbursement timeframes vary from transaction to transaction. In general, reimbursements occur in 30 to 60 days.
What tools are available to monitor the status of claims that are submitted?
Vantiv provides monthly reports of all claims (new, pending and closed claims).
On fraud-related card reissues due to data compromises, does Vantiv send letters to the cardholders notifying them that their ATM/Debit cards will be reissued?
Vantiv provides card production and mailing services related to data compromise card reissues. An institution may elect to provide advance notification to their customers of the reissue. Vantiv does not provide this service.
When an institution starts using the OmniShield 360 service, how are the existing chargebacks that are in process handled?
An institution is responsible for all chargebacks that they have initiated in the Chargebacks system prior to the beginning date of the OmniShield 360 service as well as for any new chargebacks necessary for transactions authorized prior to the beginning date of the OmniShield 360 service. Vantiv will handle all chargebacks for disputed and fraudulent transactions that are authorized on or after the beginning date of the OmniShield 360 service.
What is the process for making provisional credit to a cardholder?
An institution will receive provisional credit recommendations via the chargebacks system. An institution should review recommendations on a daily basis and approve them, as appropriate. After the approval, the institution will credit the cardholder's account, and Vantiv will mail a letter to the cardholder notifying them of the provisional credit.
What is the process for excluding a cardholder who is traveling for work or pleasure from the Real Time Decisioning rules?
Each institution has access to Real Time Decisioning through Vantiv Direct. Institutions can add and remove cardholders from the Exclusion list in Real Time Decisioning as needed.
What is the chargebacks process? What involvement does the FI have?
Vantiv handles nearly all aspects of the chargebacks process on behalf of the institution. We provide you recommendations on provisional credit, final credit and revoking the provisional credit. You will monitor these recommendations on Vantiv Direct and approve as appropriate. Any debits or credits to the cardholder's accounts will be performed by the FI.
What is the timeframe in which Vantiv will notify the institution about provisional credit recommendations for a cardholder?
Vantiv will notify the institution on the provisional credit within a couple business days.
How will Vantiv handle fraudulent transactions for small dollar amounts (less than the cost to process a chargeback)? Will an FI be reimbursed for these fraudulent transactions?
Vantiv conducted research into small-dollar fraudulent transactions. While the quantity of these transactions may be material, the dollar amount of fraud they represent is approximately 6%. To keep costs in line for the OmniShield 360 service, small-dollar fraud is not reimbursed to minimize the staffing needs to process the volume of these transactions.
